Hi.

I’m Erin Lynch. A designer, writer, educator, and multi-media artist based on the west coast of the United States. I’ve been working in the greater design industry for the past 20 years, six of that as a partner (and the founder) of Shop, a multi-disciplinary design studio that works with clients around the world.

My writing focuses primarily on the intersections of design, creativity, and technology. I’ve professionally written dozens of articles and conducted interviews with industry professionals for magazines and organizations like AIGA, Digital Trends, Boing Boing, A List Apart, and a host of others.

I’ve also spent the last decade teaching and mentoring design students at four-year universities, and most recently at the community college level where I’m currently teaching two classes on professional practices designed to help young creatives figure out who they are and how to navigate this ever-changing industry.

Lastly, I’m also what is referred to as neurodivergent, which in my case, means my mind is constantly working against me, and I’m engaged in a daily battle to keep moving in the right direction. I’m writing more and more about how I live with that and how it affects my “designed life”, which I think can be useful.

Why become a paid subscriber*?

I’m an industry veteran and entrepreneur who wants to educate and support fellow creative professionals so they can live this type of life with intent, work on things they are passionate about, and make a living while doing it.

The goal is NOT to be rich, the goal is to live a designed life in which 100% of your income is made from creative endeavors. I’ve managed to do this for over two decades and it’s time to share what I’ve learned.

Paid subscriptions get you additional access to the newsletter, posts, podcasts, videos, chats, AMA sessions, and the full website.

It’s the best way to never miss an update.

* I’ve tried to keep the sub price as low as possible to make it accessible to everyone. If you want to contribute, but don’t feel the need to make it monthly, I’m also on Ko-Fi.
